My name is Tim Reenan.

I am an IT professional with extensive experience working in the key areas of manufacturing, healthcare and banking.   Interestingly enough, looking back over my CV, the actual number of employers has been very few with just 3 companies accounting for a total of 25 years loyal service.   For the past 2 years I have been working for a locally based company which I am proud to say has strong mutual values, to the extent that it has donated in excess of £6m to UK charities and community projects in the last 4 years alone.

I grew up in Abingdon and think I must have been quite driven even as a child, because I wouldn’t consider myself to be naturally gifted, and yet I managed to pass the old 11+ exams and gain a scholarship to Abingdon School.   On the whole I look back quite fondly over those halcyon years and the opportunities they provided, although, bearing in mind we are talking about the 1970’s, some of my old school photos have some pretty dodgy hairstyles !   Having successfully completed my A-Levels in the summer of 1980, I took the decision to pass up going to university in favour of starting a career and have resided in and around the Lambourn valley ever since.

I guess it is difficult not to be influenced by the equestrian community in some shape or form around these parts, and you will not be surprised therefore that many years ago I took up horse riding as a hobby.   I was soon bitten by the bug and ended up owning my own horse for a time which I kept over at Southill stables in Aldbourne, and managed to achieve some minor success 1-day eventing and team chasing.   These days I feel its best left to the youngsters and, for me, equestrianism now consists of a leisurely walk along the footpath to Manton and a drink with Jacky in the Outside Chance.

Other social pastimes have seen Jacky and I take ballroom dancing quite seriously for a while, although a word of warning to other couples looking to be inspired by the forthcoming series of Strictly, it can be like teaching your partner to drive at times !

We have a busy life here in this wonderful market town and have met some great characters from all walks of life, and I am looking forward to getting more involved in Marlborough life.

As a point of order ... 2012 is not only to be remembered for the Olympic Games, but for a far more major event ... my 50th birthday !
